This tool was created to assist you becoming a more experienced, marketable baseball umpire.  As a part of this organization, you'll receive electronic assignments and on-line tracking of confirmed assignments.  As such, it is critical that you bookmark this page and check it a minimum of once each day.

All vital information will be placed on this site including site changes, weather cancellations, rules update, videos, testing, etc.  If you have suggestons for additions or improvements, feel free to use the appropriate link to contact the staff.

MO KAN REFEREE Umpiring

Mission Statement
To provide the best possible officiating services while assisting each official in increasing the significance of their game assignments by enhancing levels of communication, education and evaluation.

Umpiring Objectives

  • Create educational opportunities for umpires and coaches.
  • Develop an effective level of communication between staff, supervisors, umpires and coaches.
  • Develop clear and concise methods of communicating assignments to umpires.
  • Develop a high level of integrity and professionalism among umpires.
  • Increase the opportunities for quality umpires.
  • Increase expectations of sponsors and supporters.
  • Develop clear, concise policies and procedures for umpiring in the organization. 
  • Evaluate and promote positive relationships for umpiress, coaches and players.
  • Disseminate and communicate playing rule updates and interpretations.

Evaluating Umpires

The supervisor of officials will be in charge of systematically evaluating umpires throughout the year.  The evaluations will be communicated with the director(s) of the appropriate league. 

Umpires Duties

Ejection Report

The umpire must notify the supervisor and/ or on-site director of any ejection so all interested parties may be informed. An electronic report must be provided within 48 hours of the event.

Clinics and Meetings
All umpires must attend the preseason clinic/interpretation meeting and the MoKanRef Camp each year .

Physical Conditioning
Officials should keep themselves in good physical shape to ensure they are able work effectively.  Annual physicals are recommended.  Any official deemed not physically fit may not receive any assignments.

No Alcohol
No alcohol shall be consumed on premises of any event. This includes parking lots adjacent to the arena/stadium. Any official violating this policy will be terminated.

Independent Contractor Status
Umpires are independent contractors and taxes, personal insurance and liability insurance are solely their responsibility.

Verification Research
MoKanRef reserves the right to perform a background check on any of its' registered umpires without cause.  Any umpire that does not agree to said check upon request will will have their personal information immediately purged from the MoKanRef database  and will be disassociated with any and ALL MoKanRef activities.
